We have noticed that licensing application delays at BIS have been worsening over the past 2 months. Applications are taking at least twice as long for approval as they took last year at this time. It is imperative that if you have a licensing requirement, you plan ahead and leave at least three months for any licensing approval, including license renewals/replacements. It is also imperative that you give your company ample quantity and value on license applications to provide for the four-year validity. BIS allows you to provide for anticipated value so give yourself room for unexpected orders and price increases. You do not want to find yourself short on license value/quantity with a need for licensing on short notice.
